Hi friends,
Today l’m talking about keeping your faith strong in difficult circumstances. I’m reminded of a time in my life when we were absolutely broke and seriously in debt. The electricity had just been cut off due to being unable to pay the last bill. I was doing everything l knew to ‘confess’ the right scriptures like “I’ve been redeemed from the curse of the law, poverty sickness and death” from Gal 3:13 over and over.
I remember Cathie and l were singing a song over and over that went “All our debts are paid in full we are financially free. We laugh at Satan, he is defeated we are financially free” and so on. Then to our horror, as we were singing, we were pulled over by the police and he stuck a ‘canary’ sticker on our little Datsun 120Y that was on it’s last legs. The ‘canary’ sticker meant it was no longer a road worthy vehicle and would need to be taken off the road effective immediately. Great, what else could possibly go wrong? Don’t ask.
Things got considerably worse financially, before they improved. What about you, what do you do when you’re going through difficult times? Are you a “Always look on the bright side of life” type of guy, or a ‘nothing is certain but death and taxes guy?’
The only thing that is a constant in my life now is the word of God. Whenever l stray from this fundamental truth, l’m in jeopardy of falling for the lie that l can do all things through my strength, my smarts, my human effort instead of “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me”.
Please let me know your thoughts or how your traveling and l will get straight back to you.
All the best.
